What you don't know about direct mail services can cost you

Direct mail is one of the few channels you can control end-to-end: format, message, timing, and targeting. We print in-house and manage the mailing process so you don’t lose money to preventable errors. Bring your list—or we can help you source and clean one.

What we handle

• Print + finishing (cut, fold, tab, address, bundle)
• List help (formatting, hygiene, dedupe, NCOA/CASS where applicable)
• USPS mail prep + drop coordination
• Variable data personalization (names, offers, QR/URLs)

Why details matter

• Postage + format rules drive cost
• Correct addressing reduces waste and returns
• Proper tabbing/folding prevents USPS rejection
• Timing matters: proofs + production + drop schedule

Popular direct mail formats

Choose the format that matches your goal: awareness, response, or turnout.

Postcards

Fast to read, lower handling complexity, ideal for reminders and offers.

Postcard printing

Letters + envelopes

Higher trust feel; great for fundraising, membership, and persuasive messaging.

Folded self-mailers

More room than a postcard, mails without an envelope, strong for storytelling.

EDDM (no list needed)

Saturation mail by carrier route—simple, cost-effective reach for neighborhoods.

EDDM services

Variable data (personalization)

Names, unique offers, QR codes, and targeted versions—higher relevance and response.

Variable data printing

Hybrid mail + pickup options

We can mail part of a run and bundle the rest for hand-delivery, events, or canvassing.

What affects price and timing

• Quantity and format (postcard vs. letter vs. self-mailer)
• Size, paper stock, and coating
• Addressing + list condition (clean list = faster/cheaper)
• Finishing (folding, tabbing, inserting, sealing)
• Postage class and drop timing
• Personalization/variable data and versioning

File prep (fastest approvals)

• Preferred: print-ready PDF (or AI/EPS)
• CMYK; include Pantone numbers if color-matching matters
• 0.125" bleed where applicable; keep important text away from edges
• If you have a list: CSV/XLSX with clear headers (Name, Address, City, State, ZIP)

How it works

Clear steps. Proof-first workflow.

1) Send details

Format, quantity, target area, in-hand date, and whether you have a list (or need one).

2) Proof + mail plan

You approve design and we confirm format, finishing, and a realistic drop window.

3) Print + finish

We print, cut, fold/tab/insert as needed, then QA.

4) Address + drop

Addressing and USPS prep, then drop coordination so it lands when you need it.

Quick FAQ

Common questions before you mail.

Do I need a mailing list?
Not always. If you want saturation reach in a neighborhood, EDDM can work without a list. If you need targeted households or members, we’ll use your list or help you source one.

How fast can this be turned around?
Timing depends on proof approval, finishing requirements, list condition, and drop timing. If you have a hard deadline, tell us the “in-hand” date first.

Can you personalize each piece?
Yes. Variable data lets you personalize names, offers, QR codes, and versions for different segments.
